Our Colour Palette
We offer 24 species in 3 carefully selected seed mixes chosen for their colours, different flower shapes, and varying heights. Our Shire Horse Mix changes from year to year depending on the harvest.
The label on each case shows the colour of flowers in the mix. A small card with planting guidance is provided with each purchase.
The flowers combine extended flowering seasons with high nectar-bearing capabilities, two key factors to support pollinators and invertebrates as seasonal weather systems change and hibernation patterns are forced to evolve.
How to use Natural Shoots cases
1.
Use a rake or fork to prepare the soil and remove any weeds and grass.
2.
Create a small mound of soil (topsoil) adjacent to the planting area.
3.
Hold the case at a slight angle with the label in front of you.
4.
Gently ease the left stopper from the case with your thumb - look for the arrow on the label.
5.
The open case now becomes an easy-to-use tool to evenly distribute the seeds.
6.
Prepare to angle the open case towards the earth and shake the seeds out.
7.
Sow the seeds 2-3 cm deep into the soil, then move the topsoil back over the seeds. Press down firmly using your hand or a piece of flat wood.
8.
Water the planted area to begin germination. Keep the area lightly watered until young plants are established. The plants will become visible in 7-10 days as a guide.
9.
Store the empty cases in an easy-to-remember place and return to Natural Shoots or to one of our Retail Partners when convenient.
